چکیده
We study the influence of symmetry-breaking perturbations on superconductivity in multiorbital materials, with a particular focus an external magnetic field. introduce field-fitness function which characterizes pair-breaking effects perturbation given superconducting state. For even parity superconductors we find that this for field is one, implying paramagnetic response controlled only by generalized effective $g$-factor. odd superconductors, interplay $g$-factor and can lead to counter-intuitive results. demonstrate $p$-wave pairing $j=3/2$ electronic states Luttinger-Kohn model.

Impurity-Induced Bound States in Superconductors with Spin-Orbit Coupling.
We study the effect of strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC) on bound states induced by impurities in superconductors. The presence of SOC breaks the SU(2)-spin symmetry and causes the superconducting order parameter to have generically both singlet (s-wave) and triplet (p-wave) components. We find that in the presence of SOC the spectrum of Yu-Shiba-Rusinov (YSR) states is qualitatively different i...
متن کاملSpin injection into a superconductor with strong spin-orbit coupling.
We demonstrate spin injection into superconducting Nb by employing a spin absorption technique in lateral spin valve structures. Spin currents flowing in a nonmagnetic Cu channel are preferably absorbed into Nb due to its strong spin-orbit interaction, the amount of which dramatically changes below or above the superconducting critical temperature (TC). The charge imbalance effect observed in t...
متن کاملSlater Insulator in Iridate Perovskites with Strong Spin-Orbit Coupling.
The perovskite SrIrO_{3} is an exotic narrow-band metal owing to a confluence of the strengths of the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and the electron-electron correlations. It has been proposed that topological and magnetic insulating phases can be achieved by tuning the SOC, Hubbard interactions, and/or lattice symmetry. Here, we report that the substitution of nonmagnetic, isovalent Sn^{4+} for Ir...
متن کاملRadical-pair model of magnetoreception with spin–orbit coupling
The mechanism used by migratory birds to orientate themselves using the geomagnetic field is still a mystery in many species. The radical pair mechanism, in which very weak magnetic fields can influence certain types of spin-dependent chemical reactions, leading to biologically observable signals, has recently imposed itself as one of the most promising candidates for certain species. This is t...
